UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson meets the sQuid Kenya team during visit to East Africa
17 March 2017
As part of his three day tour of east Africa, the UK's Secretary of State for Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs, the Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP, attended a Technology and Innovation event, held at the High Commissioner's residence in Nairobi.
We were delighted to be invited to attend the event, and to have the opportunity to address Mr Johnson, demonstrating our simple, yet powerful technology, and how it is used to improve learning outcomes for marganlised children in Kenyan schools.
Mr Johnson revealed that he was already familiar with our smart card based technology, which is used to take attendance in schools. This is through our work with iMlango, a programme run in partnership with DFID.
In addition to this, Mr Johnson took a keen interest in our work with Save the Children, and the help we provide to beneficiaries.
It was a great pleasure for our team to meet Mr Johnson, and hear him commend our team for our efforts in bringing technology to the most remote parts of Kenya, helping to improve education and community life.
